Hiding harmful additives or vague origins behind complex, illegible chemical nomenclature is a lack of courtesy from food manufacturers toward consumers. Conversely, knowing precisely what goes into your body and the bodies of your loved ones is self-care etiquette.

Eatlabel is a global food safety decoder designed to decode dense, tiny ingredient labels with a single snapshot, making chemical lists intuitive, transparent, and actionable.

2. The 'Worst-case Regulatory Principle'

Regulatory standards for food additives diverge significantly across jurisdictions. A tar dye or chemical preservative permitted under US FDA regulations may require mandatory hyperactivity warning labels or be banned entirely by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

Rather than relying on regulatory compromise, Eatlabel places consumer biological safety first. If an ingredient is restricted, banned, or flagged with health warnings by any of the three major authorities—South Korea (MFDS), the United States (FDA), or the European Union (EFSA)—our scoring engine applies strict deductions.

3. 100-Point Deduction Algorithm

• 85 – 100 pts (Green / Safe): Transparent clean-label ingredients free from high-concern chemicals.
• 60 – 84 pts (Yellow / Caution): Contains blended/vague origins, potential GMO risks, synthetic preservatives, or artificial sweeteners.
• 0 – 59 pts (Red / Danger): Detects additives banned or restricted in major markets, synthetic azo dyes, or multiple high-risk substances.
